The unique simplicity of certain designs and how they stand out from each other truly spark my curiosity. I wanted to create my own unique approach to shoe designs. I took my 3 favorite shoe silhouettes, the Jordan 1, Jordan 4, and Nike SB dunks, and envisioned these popular silhouettes in a 2D illustration using Adobe Illustrator. Ever since I was a child I have always had a deep passion for animals, their lovable qualities as pets, and the way that certain species have evolved to fit their environment and habitat. In this project, I wanted to somehow combine my two interests, shoes and animals, by using various animal textures and patterns in the design of the shoe as a way to attach metaphorical meaning and tell a story. For example, I used Giraffe textures on the Jordan 1 to reference the great heights Jordan reached in his career.
I formulated the colorways to match my artist identity using various hues of brown and white. These shades depict the rustic, natural ground that we all walk on and bring what’s underneath all the vibrant green hues that populate our earth, to the surface.
After creating all these digital assets, I coded a website with HTML and JavaScript to create a website prototype for these designs to live on and showcase their intricate elements of design that I used throughout my shoe creation.
